Abid graduated from Leicester Medical School in 1995.
He is qualified as both a doctor and lawyer having taken time out of medicine to train as a corporate lawyer in the city.
He has been a GP for nine years and works as a partner in one of the Newbury town practices.
Abid was previously director of the local GP Community Interest Company and has been involved in commissioning as Chair of the Newbury & District Clinical Commissioning group since 2011.
He chairs the Berkshire West Federation Planned Care Board and is also deputy chair of the Thames Valley Clinical Senate.
Since April 2015 he has been the Clinical Chair of the four Berkshire West Federation of CCGs.
He is currently working with the senior leadership teams in the local system to develop new models of care (Accountable Care System) that are financially sustainable and able to deliver the best clinical and quality outcomes for the local population.
